knotty scrap metal baron
just finished this one .
glued it up a few days ago and only just got a chance to turn it ,away yesterday got kicked around by cattle in the yards tuesday ( only got kicked 5 times though ) truck went driving monday .
sorry back to the pen , chrome baron ( was going to use a ti gold baron cos that looks good with huon but i thought the chrome would look better with the aluminium or if you are american aloominum.
so the pen is houn with an african wenge celtic cross made of 2 x 1.5 mm laminates of wenge with coke can in the middle .
went for the satin rather than the high gloss finish on this one , i used BLO/CA then a coat of carnauba .
i like the feel of that wax on a pen .'If the enemy is in range, so are you.'

texx
very nice
I wouldn't have thought to put the coke can down the middle, but given the wenge it think it is definately the proper place to go. If the coke can was sandwiching the wenge then I think it would have got lost
great penregards

Great pen Texx, did you have any problems gluing the coke can in, I have heard it doesn't always take too well.

Wow, very impressive
Where can I find a tutorial or instructions on how to make a blank like this? I've seen a few guys like yourself turn out some fantastic items and I'm keen to learn how to do it myself.

I think Sawdust Maker has hit the nail on the head, love the silver between the Wenge and nicely executed knots. Huon gives a very nice contrast to the Wenge too. There's a lot to like in that pen
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.
