Probably why I'm not a great fan of most acrylics, I suppose, I prefer subtlety to "in yer face." [shrug]
I must agree with you Skewy and I know it is bucking the trend here. I just don't "get" the acrylic pens. I can go and buy a plastic pen in any store but wood has that wonderful feel too it that is lacking in plastic. The hand made nature of the pens adds to the feel.
I have not and probably never will sell anything I make but wonder at which pens the average buyer prefers.

I will admit that there are some acrylics that tickle my fancy, but they're far and few between. The single colour opalescents, the old-style crushed velvets, the ones that have as much fine detail in them as a good piece of wood has in its' grain.

Cameron Potter's home-made micartas, with resin embedded cloth were heading in the right direction; I've been meaning to cast some more here but the weather's been to cold for good epoxy mixes. Not for much longer though... I'll be starting casting next weekend if all goes well.

Even so, I still far prefer timber. As you said, it feels sooo much better in the hand.

I have attached pictures(sorry they are so bodgy) The timber has been moistened with water for the photo, to bring out the grain.

    Measurements are

    445x105x50mm

I would say you can get 110-130 pen blanks out of this piece.

Let me know if you are interested, it is going out cheap.

I'll let you guys start the price. Someone give aprice, and I'll tell you wether it's agreeable. Only a one time offer.----for this piece. First up first serve.

    Have fun,

    Regards.........Joash
Piece is now sold, have more Lace Sheoak if anyone is interested,
