Hey Ian,
Sorry to hear work's getting you down. I know all about that, it's the pits. Still, nice work on the pens.
I've been tossing up whether to invest in a laser engraver or not. It's not a cheap exercise. I don't have exact costs, but "cheap" chinese ones off eBay work out about $4,000 (there is a $1,000 option but it doesn't do cylinders, which for pens I consider essential).
I've had emails queries on prices to 3 local suppliers fora couple of days with no response, but from what I can find out overseas, they're going to come back with prices from $8,000 - $15,000 for units similar to the $4,000 chinese ones.
You do need to consider consumable costs with lasers though, as the laser tube needs replacing regularly, and other bits like lenses maybe too.
Anyone who actually has one locally got anything more concrete?

Hey There,
The pens are nice , I know cause I've had them in my hand, The Engraving costs us $5.00 per pen, and I consider this very reasonable, if you divide $5.00 into $10,000.00 ,and a few minutes of your time to do each pen, you would need to do a lot of pens to justify the initial outlay, then if you have one you would have to chase other work, or it would find you and then you wouldn't have time to do your own gear. Unless thats where you want to go and then I would be looking at getting a $50,000.00 Laser jigger with all the fruit and learning how to drive it.
Just my 2c worth

Hey Hazza, Is there a minimum order number?
Ive been putting stuff together for a proposal to a company and these pens would be great to go with it.
Cheers, Mitch

Hi Ian, great looking pens as usual. I understand the problems with time. A question on the engraving which looks fantastic. I pressume the engraving is done pre-CA finish? How hard to apply the CA afterwards. I am interested as I have a couple of pens in my mind where it would like great.

Hey Sturina,
The Pens are Engraved in the finished and assembled state. We are now doing a heap for a mining company and I am Turning and Finishing the Barrels and Laser Len is Engraving 8 at a time, then a quick polish and assembly. (I will do a Post when I'm a bit closer to delivering the entire order)
Hey Ian Sorry if I hijacked your thread

Hey Sturina,
Try our mate Mr Google, make sure that they have a rotary attachment, so that you get your moneys worth, I have had to make up a heap chucks to hold the pens in the rotator, but they are simple to do.
