Lignum Vitae
Cross cut Lignum Vitae in a Dayacom, rhodium, Australiana elegant beauty. The timber came form the stern tube bearing circa 1963 of the SS Iron King. The timber was gifted to me by the Chief Engineer at that time and this is his pen in return. Photograph below is of the ship. Finish is wipe on poly.

Hey Sam,
Really nice job, Great pen and interesting history,
As it was used in the Stern Tube bearing I would assume that it was as 'hard as' how did the tools hold up??

Thank you everyone for the kind words.
Harry
the wood was excellent to turn and the biggest problems were firstly the oil that was impregnated in the wood and secondly I cut the blank Xcut. I still have two blades of the bearing so lots more pens yet and he also gave me some teak form the same ship. It was used as the housing on the degaussing cables. All in all a good swap
