Lucida, Banded Malachite.
Hot off the lathe is one of the new gold titanium Lucida kits from Timberbits, decorated with a piece of banded Malachite Truestone.
Following on from Les's thread, what are peoples thoughts on the pebble used as a prop in the third photo ?
Do you like the uncluttered look of the first two, or the third one with the rock to tilt the pen up off the background ?

I hope my Lucidas come up as well. This one looks great.
I vote for the image with the pen propped up by the pebble.
Edit: I also like to take my photos with the pen on the angle, something like the first image, rather than straight across from left to right.Last edited by dabbler; 8th December 2012 at 05:37 PM. Reason: added info

Lovely pen, and I prefer the photos without the pebble.
Cheers

I also prefer the photos without the pebbles. They are very very nice photos that you have taken there they show off the pen well
Cheers Ian

Thanks Guys.
Well seems like a bit of a mix with the preferences.
I think I prefer the look of the pen by itself, nothing to distract your attention from the main subject, which is the pen.
One of the benefits of using the pebble for a prop, is you can put the pen at an angle in the frame and still keep most of the pen in sharp focus, it is a bit of a trade off with the pen laying flat.
All part of the challenge though, and thats what keeps me going.

Beautifully done pen Either of the photos look great. The pebble might be a bit better on a different angle.

Very nice looking pen. What's the difference between this and the sierra kit?

Initially they appear the same but side by side the lucida is slightly smaller/ shorter. The tube is smaller in dia and length. The lower section is also shorter. The transmission is a pre-fit in the endcap and the nib unscrews from the lower section so assembly and replacing refill method slightly different. Both are twists and use parker style refill.
I haven't got a photo of the two together but I'm sure one will magically appear. I only glued some lucida tubes today so gave the kit a thorough look today, so experts please speak up in case I'm right off beam.
