I love that timber, but I'm afraid to use it for pens anymore. They come out looking great,
but a few months down the road mine have been cracking.
This one looks great!

Peter, the rest of us are gathering as a group and calling ourselves "Raiders of Wood Stash" ; one of us will visit someday, and while that one keeps you talking--not hard to do-- the rest will trample in like elephants and see what they can carry!
Meanwhile, we just look on and enjoy our education in wood, lovely! AmosGood, better, best, never let it rest;

Morning all
Listen you Raiders of the Lost Nark what goes on in my roof stays in the roof until it is ready.
Seems to mystify many however I do love it when a plan comes together. (sound familiar) My plan initially was to make a collection of one of each timber in Slims, this sounds great but when faced with Eucs alone numbering 700 species I was never going to acheive this. I have an elimination program to ensure the best blanks with the greatest variety. I try never to give away anything I would not like myself.
Outside I will have to eliminate consigned to my mates fires excess burl accumulated over the years because the very great time it takes to break down,the considerable costs of Bandsaw blading and wastage convinces me it is best to purchase pen blanks over time than say buying burl caps wet or dry, do your sums.
Anyway Wilma may yet get her parketry floor old father time has delivered some real blows as I always say old age is not for the fainthearted. I remain of good cheer and trust I stir the same desire to see just how many types of pens in wood there are.
Every now and then I will turn acrylic in fact I have that feeling now with two beauties to do from Queensland I got at the WWW Show in Sept.
I had a neat conversation with Nick in the USA recently on swipe, sorry Snype where we got to see each other and talk in real time from 8000 miles away instantly. You can only imagine the impact modern communication has on a person who still can not come to terms with the high output that those tiny people who live in my computer produce.
High regards to all. Peter.
