    Default Macassar Ebony

A Sierra gold Ti and black Ti with a Macassar Ebony blank. The kit and blank are from Addictive and once again the finish is Minwax wipe on poly.

It is very hard to photograph but there is a lot of depth in the blank. The poly has brought out the colours in it.

    Sam

    nice pen

I think I like it but wonder if the black really goes with the Macassar ebony? ie black and really dark brown (maybe the photo is not doing it justice)

    cheers

I was just wondering the same thing .. if it might be the lighting. I like the kit, love
the black ti .. love the wood! Just not sure how they go together, but it might be
the picture. I know my own things don't look anything like the photos either.

    Nice looking finish, too

The pen is neatly fitted and beaut finish, I leave kit choices to the maker and his maker, remember my theory of the three pens, the one you plan the one you make and the one that draws comparisons. Must say I liked it a lot when all you could buy was gold kits, life sure was simpler then.
When are you making the journey remember the first week in September is the Canberra WWW Show.
    Regards to you both Peter

Thank you all, I tried the blank with a few kits and it really looks good with this kit it is just my bad photography. The ebony is not all that dark it seems to get lost also when we resize the pictures. I suppose a rhodium was the way to go but I had none in stock.

Peter its all in the planning at the moment I also want Aaron to settle into his new job before we get there. Maybe September might be the go

this is another one reduced another way

Nice pen again Sam, I know from experience that dark woods are very difficult to capture the natural beauty that exudes from them, probably open sunlight and flash and the same time??? Amos

That's a beautiful pen! I know that the Black and Gold Ti of the Sierra works really well with any of the darker timbers, and this one is no exception.

Hmm..Think it might have looked better with a platinum/black ti kit. The gold suits lighter woods

    Nice pen though

Sam, do you like that Minwax. What would be your preferred finish.

I like it. It's stately and not overwhelming at all. That is a particular timber I wish to play with some day. Nicely finished, Sam. It looks like glass.
