Macassar Ebony Sierra
Yesterday I picked up my first Sierra pen kits. I have been wanting to turn sierras for quite some time.
I had a nice piece of Macassar Ebony that I might be able to get 3 Sierras out of. Here is my first attempt at a sierra ever using that macassar ebony. Finish is CA and micromesh to 12,000.
Photography info: Nikon D90 with 50mm lens. Shutter speed 1/50 and aperture f18. Flash to left with a shoot-through umbrella.

Nice work and nice material. The sierras are good value for the more expensive or rarer blanks as you get 2 or more pens ,and if you turn 2 at once you get 2 nice pens in the same time it takes to make a slimline usually ,all good

Nice one. With such great gear, you should make you pictures a bit larger so we can enjoy the view!

Hey everyone. Thanks for comments. I don't know how big of photos I can post, but here's a couple close-ups of the grain.

Clinch
Personally I always am happy when people post pictures. yours show all I need to see for me the pen presents well.
Welcome to you remember lots of first postings yours holds its own. with your pen making I know Macassar Ebony is a mixed bag to bring out grain and colour and quite temperamental at times. your pen is understated and neat.
Regards Peter.

Nicely done, and a nice bit of timber too.
One of my favourite Sierra's at the moment is the Black Titanium, I reckon it would be a perfect match for than timber, or any darker timber really.
Nice work.
Nathan.
