    Default Magnetic Dayacom

This is the Magnetic Dayacom pen I made from Stripped ebony with the usual finish.
After taking the photos I noticed at the nib end there are a few line in the finish so I will strip it down and re do the finish.
I do not like the look of these kits when the cap has been removed so unless this kit sells quick I will not make any more

you're right about the kit. The nib looks kinda stumpy with such a long pen.

I like these ones from timberbits more. They look more balanced.

You've done a neat job with it though. I do like the idea of such a long slender pen - very elegant. I reckon they'd lend themselves to a closed end pen quite well.

    cheers,
    Dave

I fully agree and when i bought this kit that is what I expected but with a magnetic lid instead I got stumpy
I do like the idea they just need a better transition from body to nib. Hopefully they will remodel it soon.

Are they comfy to write with though, or is the transition too sharp? Do you end up holding the wood or the nib?

    Cheers,
    Dave

Not for me as I like to hold the pen about where the body ends and the nib start. If you hold your pen a bit closer to the nib it may be OK but not for me

Thanks. You can never tell until you've picked it up and written a few sentences, but this one did look like a worry...

great piece of wood mate, pity about the couple of ripples on the front, then again a blind man would be happy to see them

i do like these pens and have made and sold a few of them already

i even now use one for and everyday pen, i also hold it up towards the end of the wood but it does feel comfortable to write with

i like that it is a rollerball without the screw cap which comes in chrome and Black Ti, i wish it came in gold Ti instead of 10ct gold as well

the magnetic cap makes it easy to get the cap off rather than having to screw off the cap - gets to be a pain after a while

my pens also hang on the side of my pants pocket through the day, i find after a while the screw caps un screw and the pen ends up floating around in the bottom of my pocket, the magnetic cap has not as yet let go

all in all i like them

i hope they sell as well for you as they have so far for me

    thanks for showing

    Hi MIK,

Good points there. I've come a cropper with ink leaks a couple of times now from fountain pens or gel roller balls coming unscrewed in my pocket.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Nice work on th pen RP.

That kit is one I do not use, The magnetic cap does not hold and I have ruined a a pair of trousers and a shirt with the leaked ink.

On the other hand the Dayacm pen with the screw cap has never caused a problem
