Majestic watch parts
One of the reasons I made a mold at the demo was to produce this Majestic ,I cast the clip end at the demo on Saturday which will appear in the video, last night I cast another mold to do the barrel of the pen ,cast the pen this morning then turned and finished it this afternoon ,here's the final result , Photos as usual barely adequate cheers ~ John

Lovely work John I know it will be on the DVD but what did you paint the tube with before gluing the pieces in place?
Just thinking out loud but would it be possible to cast one of the cogs in a small piece of resin and then turn it into a custom finial (provided its possible to remove the standard one from the cap)

Saw it in person this morning. The photo does not do justice to it. It is a very beautiful pen with a lot of labour involved. Well done John

wow john
just one little thing that stands out on the cap blank why did you hide the watch face behind the clip when it could have been put over any of the gears and stuff ??

I hummed and hahhad about that ,the main reason was I did not have room in this kit to have hands on it ,and also was a small black blob right in the centre of the watch face, so this was my reasoning in this case
In answer to the how I glue the bits in place ,in reality I don't glue at all ,it is too messy and time consuming ,I simply roll some polimer clay, in this case black ,then roll as thin a layer as I can get onto the tube ,I use this base to impress the small items into the clay ,by bending some parts I can get a good match on diameters and very little raised above the original tubes ,in this case I was able to get the tubes finished to the right sizes
As to changing the finial I try to use original kits as they are ,the majestic has a distinctive finial and fittings , I could probably chuck the crystal and insert a small winder in its place hehe, maybe another day, I was running out of time for this one as its needed Sunday ,so enough was enough lol. cheer ~ JohnG'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

A super result
For anyone else familiar with how little "meat" there is on a Majestic cap, they will appreciate how hard it is to cast pen parts for this kit, then turn it to perfection without braking through as John hasNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

John,
Neat commentary for a neat pen, you are right about the pics the impression given by them of many bubbles.
I am assuming it is bubble free the black is jet black.
Can see spaced interesting bits in your pen agree with the comment about the face and accept fully your reasoning after all your choices all round.
Been gazing at my "genuine" Rolex I bought in Singapore for some time now and see a future use for it.
How strong and everlasting is your mounting medium do you think?
Applauding you for exploring this fascination of mine as well having stripped many watches in preparation. Look forward to your Video mate.
What is the response from your customers? Can they afford it.
Continued success. Peter.Nil Desperandum

Thanks Peter, no bubbles and not quite Jet black as its a black polimer clay base. Sometimes the price does not represent the true value of something like this in this case I only asked and got $130 ,but to me that is ok for a market sale ,not many folk wander around a sunday market with a pocket full of money hehe. His mother also bought one of my Pine cone casts roller ball, so between the 2 I will have a fair profit in the end ,with more sales to come in the future ,it all balances out in the end ,plus of course the challenge and the pleasure in the creation process is worth something to me cheers ~ John

John, time just stands still when I look at this creation, you are a casting guru when it comes to pen blanks of this nature. As dai sensei said the tolerances that are involved in the cap of the pen is so fine, that a steady hand and nerves of steel to finish it as you have done. Finish, fit and form are spot on. Hopefully I will learn more when I view the DVD. great work as always mate.

Unfortunately you won't see that on the first lot of videos Darren but it is beautiful pen with hours of work involved and to think stupid here went to pick up the mould before the resin had set Fortunately, I didn't damage it before I put my hands in my pockets
