I got some Mango tree blanks from Mapleman, and this is the first pen out
finnish with 400 grit and burnish with wood shavings and 15 layer of CA glue and Brasso as last polish
Thanks Mapleman

Hi Tore
Nice job on the pen and also mapleman on the Blank i have one Question or piece of advice i feel that by using the brasso to polish the super glue finish could be a bit abrasive on the GA. I know it works great with acrylic as I have used it many time but i am not sure how good it is with CA having never used it on CA I have just played in the shed with it on timber. you may be better with some of the other cutting creams that are designed for that purpose.
sorry but have to have my 2 cents worth
Cheers Ian

Hi Tore, nice looking timber on that one but when looking closer it looks to me like you haven't squared/tidied the ends prior to assembly. Failing to do this can result in damaging the CA finish during assembly and/or lowering the overall quality of what would otherwise be a great pen. There is a wealth of good information in previous threads showing how to avoid this and well worth the effort having a look at them.

Great looking pen, I think some more attention to squaring the ends, particularly the nib end would improve the final finish. Check out the forum for using a mandrel mounted sanding disc rather than a pen mill. Works for me. Lovely blank MM.

Yes what the two before me have said. Upon closer examination I notice the top section near the centre band looks like it has suffered some damage from not sanding the ends after using the CA but this really is easy problem to rectify

Yep, definitely needs the blanks squared off to avoid the rough ends that join the metal work. It will make the world of difference to your pens. There are a heap of threads on here on 'squaring off blanks'.
Good luck
