Manual power
Have no power at the moment, work getting done somewhere. I have pen blanks glued up waiting to be turned. But not to be idle, I thought I would manually drill out some pen blanks. So with an LED torch in a magnetic holder for light I am using the lathe as normal but me as the power. Now I know I must build a treadle for my lathe. More so an experiment, but it can be done, takes a tad bit longer but you get there. It is a piece of Spalted Cherry I am drilling.

New phase one horse power.
I have three small hand drills and often get them out when doing outside tasks, one to use for screw shaft size, one for clearance one for champher.
Takes me back to the 1950,s as an apprenticed Electrician and Power Points were mounted using wooden mount blocks. I think using a handdrill I could drill by eye the holes needed today. Ah memories you invoked.
Kind regards Peter.Nil Desperandum

Well Darren, I can't stand people that skite about stuff that they have, but .... I have a 1200 watt inverter in my work ute that runs my lathe beautifully for hours on end. Not to mention my 6kva generator I have to run the entire shed and beer fridge & house lights etc for when we get cyclone outages for days on end. BE PREPAIRED ha ha
I never forget anything I remember !!
