Market Day
Hey Guys
Well I went to the markets this morning to sell some pens but I didnt sell one I had a lot of people look and I had a few ask questions and I hand out a heap of flyers so hopefully I will hear something back that way. One good thing was I met a fellow turner this morning had a good chat and he appoved of my pen many times over which made the day all worth it my kids and the boss tag along and they had fun helpping dad set up and building castle with off cuts that I took with me. So where to from here well the market I went to today was more of a second hand markets so I need to find one that is more of arts and carft so I keep looking around and see what else is out their

hey ian
damn shame no sales for the effort you put in
as a idea instead of having every pen in a case maybe look at one of your supliers for some dispaly stands like this one from timberbits Pen Making :: Pen Boxes and Display :: Acrylic 6 Pen Display Stand - Pen Kits, Pen blanks, Clock Kits and wood turning accessories. and displaying them in that fashion with a few here and there in the cases but having a sign letting them know all pens come with case heres a pic of a rack similiar with a few that i did late last year
also in that way you don't need to have a large amount of money tied up in having a case for every single pen , you would only need to have on hand about a third to half the amount of cases to what you have there as you sell a heap order that amount again more money in your pocket for pen kits or other stuff
well thats my ten cents
all the best in the future at another market

Hey Ian. Gee, sorry to here you sold not a one . I'd be trying tourist galleries / shops + tobacconists ect, even Jewelry shops. I just can't keep up with rellies & drop in mates nicking off with them. I make 4-6 a week, and by Sunday night I've only got 3 left.

Not to worry about today ,as you say try and find a suitable craft market ,generally most markets are a mixture and attract a mixed bunch of clients, at least you got set up and talking , I left home at 5-15 am this morning and headed to broadbeach market for my usual fortnightly sunday, got there at 6am only to find the market was a non-event some damn surf carnival instead , so drove back home and back to bed lol. so no sales for me not even a friendly chat ,so you are ahead on points lol. cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Ian,
How's the finger.
Well you may not have sold any pens but you gave away enough flyers. Now they know you exist. Keep it up and the sales will come.

Ian,
Family days are never wasted, regret they were not surrounding you with sales however as practice run from what you have said here the learning curve is proving which way to travel for the best. Bit like fishing lots of nibbles an occassional bite, lots of bait used up. A chance to reflect on the love of family, a sharing experience. Enthusiasm defies defeat.
Really liked your set up , display and support staff trust you are rewarded in the long run.
Fair winds and full sails.
Kind regards Peter.Nil Desperandum
