Gorgeous Cisco!

A very classy looking pair you have there Cisco.

I am very new to Trustone, only having made 3 pens with it so far. I am wondering about the use of CA to finish them, do you find it necessary ?
The ones I did, I just polished them.
Do you find the bare Trustone not durable enough, or are you after a higher gloss than what is achievable just from polishing alone?

Nice pair indeed well worth the challenge of using the truestone on such quality kits ,stone finished with CA should be a very long lasting reminder of your work Cheers ~ John

Thanks for the comments, guys. Not sure if Tru-Stone needs CA or not, but using CA is such a habit for me I just did it without thinking about it. Must say that it makes them shine real nice. I suppose simply polishing them might work as well, but I want a finish that is going to last if I am selling the pen.

One home run is to be applauded but two quite an accomplishment both those pens are great. Lots of theories about finishing they abound but on my screen they come up outstanding.

Surely it's not as the name suggest.... stone,~~~ RIGHT ?? As I wouldn't have thought that it could be turned with standard tools - I know mine don't like it, when they fall onto th cement and that is surely softer than Stone...

but maybe I'm missing something,,

Betty, my understanding of Tru Stone is that it is crushed stone(into a powder) then reconstituted with resin 85percent stone 15percent resin, please chip in and update with any corrections, Amos

Did you order your Trustone direct from America or can you get it locally. I have been searching but could only find it in USA. As to Trustone Betty, I have researched it and the company making it is very secretive about the exact blend and how its made.

Truestone is structural epoxy and acrylic resin mixed with pigments, and some of the actual stone also, and with the veined gold ones, imitation gold leaf for the veins.
It will polish up as pretty as any acrylic blank but it will chip and crack if dropped, a little more fragile than normal acrylic due to the mix.
It will dull normal steel tools quickly for the same reason, the stone powder will abraid the cutting edge.
If you have ever worked with Corian counter top material, you treat Truestone the same way, it cuts and polishes the same.

Hehe ! I think you will find "Cisco" is local to America But Dorno is now importing Truestone in selected colors and quantities ,he has posted what he currently has available in the forums cheers ~ John
