A matter of Size!
G;day all! I need some input on pen sizes, not been in this long enough to try all the possabilities in pen kits. I have someone wants a fountain pen and matching pen ,with a parker style ink refill , although it appears these types are used for click pens only, but he does not want a rollerball !
I only had a Sedona kit in a fountain pen to show him ,and he wants a slimmer style in both. My dilemma is what to order to fulfil this request, as on all the sites I have checked none seem to give an overall fitup size ,eg the finished diameter of the pens. I assume from the tube sizes that is some idea, but not always, I am guessing that designer style may be the slimmest but hard to tell for me .And also it may change from supplier to supplier as does name changes hehe, any input in this direction is appreciated , thanksLast edited by gawdelpus; 23rd September 2008 at 02:39 PM. I was wondering the same thing myself a couple of weeks ago.
I essentially looked at what Brett of Addictive had on hand. I'm not sure whether he had anything slimmer then a Baron/Sedona.
Carroll's might have a slimmer fountain - website here. Towards the bottom of the pen page there are a number of fountain that look slimmer then a Baron/Sedona. I see Carroll's has a pen called a Parker.
For bushing sizes (which could give you an idea of final thickness) look here. Also gives tube sizes.

Slimmer than a sedona??
Crikey, I thought they were slim, I can't think of anything that looks as good but is slimmer. Just tell the person that slim pens give you arthritis

Yes it might at that ,I have been looking over Jims site and seems a few possabilities, will call him about sizes as I need to try and get a match up even if not exact should look the same eg centre bands and filials . I had a look through the bushing sizes and while an excellant reference ,it may be out of date now as a lot of kits not represented ,the hunt goes on hehe!

Looks like a "designer " will fit the bill,It does not have a larger dia clip end ,and is only approx 7/16 dia, very basic .but thats what is wanted hehe,See if I can get a similar size parker refill type to match.

Don't know if this will fit the bill, I haven't seen one in person, and
I don't see the specs for it. But it looks to be not that much bigger
than the slimline. Doesn't look all that interesting to me, but people's
tastes vary. Someone sent me a link for this pen kit last night, and
he wants me to make one for his dad.

A bit tricky to produce though, need to file a recessin the cap end to let the clip go down flush, and the retainer is a plastic insert that screws onto a screw in the filial, also carries a spare ink cartridge in the cap end ,as it doesnt have an ink pump supplied.Probably closer to a comfort pen size than a slimline
