    Default The Mermaids

These rare blanks from Jeff Powell of USA, the fish, mermaids and seaweed all done by Intarsia work. Learnt the hard way that Resin and Wood are not that strong when doing closed end pens and invisible clips. Also, if i had to do them again, I would wait 4 weeks after my CA finish, to allow for "shrinkage" as the CA goes deeper into the wood. Then I would do some more coats of CA. Amos

    Great result there Amos

Like you, I tend to leave the CA coatings on dissimilar material pens for a few weeks before applying the final coats/finish, dam stuff always moves on you.

Ahaa ! so thats where you have been hiding eh Amos A lot of love gone into those pens well worth the extra time you have had to spend on them
Production may be down, but quality is up hehe, not a bad tradeoff . Cheers ~ John

Thanks Neil and John, comments appreciated. Yes, Neil, even with "ordinary" wood blanks, I find if I leave the CA cure a couple of days it will polish up better. Amos

Got to see these in the flesh today, and as usual, much better in the hand. If anyone else like me was wondering what was in the finial cap, it is a fly fishing hook.

Amos, I am looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I am another that likes to leave my CA finish cure for at least a few days or a week before the final sand and polish. It is something that shouldn't be rushed.
