    Default A small Milestone

Just thought I would share this with yus all ..

This has gotta be the first hobby that may actually pay for itself.

Ive just looked at my little chart in the workshop and noted my first bunch of pen bits from me mate Jim on 23.6.06 (plus a few other bits) totalling $230-00

As of today 2.7.06, Ive sold $235-00 worth of pens, and still have a very healthy peg board of pen parts, waxes, ubeaut etc etc.

Does that mean its good ole profit from here .... in just over a month??? And its fun to boot.

    Thumbs up

That's awesome, Rich! Been thinking of places I can sell them to help support the habit. Made a pretty nice pen from Curly Jarrah and a Pen 1V kit yesterday so hopefully not too long before I think to myself, "I would be proud to sell this."

I started off at work selling them, thats now pretty dried up, a few here and there via my wifes work (she needs to improve her sales skills) .. and now Im serious about approaching some craft shops in the area.

I think its best to make a whole bunch and sell them off, rather than take 'orders' unless you have a steady supply of one type of timber.

Ive got this heavily figured burl of . . something ...that everyone wants and now down to about 5 pen blanks left. I spose Ill just increase the price

Oh, and you will have to start selling them anyway .. I mean, how many pens does one really need . .

Certainly not 35 of them, which is how many kits I bought!
