Mixed reviews
Some mixed reviews on this kit when I put up the first one in silver with the pewter blank. It has proven to be a good seller with eight ordered already. The long barrel does give you a good opportunity to show off the material of the blank. The eight orders are for a mix of brown mallee burl, Yellow box burl, red morel burl, box elder burl and acrylics (yet to be finalised). The timbers for this order were selected from looking at finished sierras and the pen style from looking at the pewter one as well as this new one. I also have my first order for a Pristina in Kimberly Bloodwood, it will be a bit more of a challenge with my lack of experience as the blank has a few voids to handle. Who wants to bet it takes more than one crack at it to get a good quality saleable item.
Anyway, here is another magnetic in gold with a tiger eye blank. I must sort out a better way to photograph these if I am going to start a website with a gallery. I think the light needs to be diffused more and reflections from a neutral background.

Re: Mixed reviews
Nicely done mate love it and ur pen holder in the background ;-) I take most of my photos via my mobile 12mega pixels and with the natural sunlight inside on my kitchen island in the afternoon (not in direct sunlight) I just open the blinds and let nature work it magic ;-)

Nice lookin pen from what I can see, the photo not so good.
You need to get rid of the shading round the outside it detracts from the photo, and use depth of field to focus the pen and put the prop slightly out of focus. I would also use a prop smaller than the pen itself so the pen becomes the center of attention. Try a variety of different props and as Ian says even natural light to get the best out of the pen. One forumite (Pariss) takes a lot of his photos outside on a piece of white melamine and gets some excellent results. Others use all the gear like light tents, million dollar cameras etc etc and still only good not great pics. By experimenting you will get better and you pens will get the exposure that they deserve.

i like the pen from what i can of it but as for the photo i think it's i am sure that with just a little bit practice you can get the photo's alot better than they are. i also do nothing spectacular when taking my photos i just take them outside in the late afternoon and they come out ok i think ? I agree with the others about the shaded area and also the tractor but would really like to see a better photo of the pen.
Cheers Ian

Hey Gingerbeer,
like the rest of the guys, you need to highlight the pen, not the background, I am also getting a website sorted, and all the advice I'm getting is display pictures of what you are selling, not the fancy things you have , in this situation, less IS more. Good luck with your site hope to see it soon

Nice looking pen. I like the novel concept for the photo although I do think the toy detracts from the pen by taking the focus away from it. Still, I am certainly not a photographer. Trev is right - have a look at some of the photos taken by Pariss - simply done and they have come out really well.
