    Default Some more mixed woods and acrylics "+" !

    Finished a few more recent casts today ,one never even got a picture as it was sold hot off the lathe
    The first is a Virage in some more Fernwood and green acrylic, then a Sedona in Cholla cactus and green , next is an order for a doctor who is a freelance musician lastly an Alligator Jaw and acrylic in a Bamboo f/pen .

    Nice pens John How would the fernwood come out if it was just set in clear resin?

    You would have to paint the tubes or show brass in places as some of the hollows go right through to the tube .you cant tell from the outside before you start turning ,you can turn without casting but lots of CA may be needed as you find the hollows ,and if you do it that way you can end up with hollows inside where it doesnt touch the tube at all. I usually drill through a slightly smaller hole than you need for your tube and fill it when casting under pressure this allows full penetration of the material Sounds a bit complex ,but sometimes these odd materials need your best processes for success ,cheers ~ John

    Thanks John. I will drill the hole and then put it in the pressure pot (still unused) I would like to see it in natural form first before I start adding colours to it.
