Froggy I love the colour combination and the style of the pens and the general shape is pleasing to my eye but for me the beads don't do anything for me but that is a personal preference thing not a pick on your work

    Default Trash Wood

    Kruger,
One man's trash is another man's treasure, I like the pen. Any Maple is always nice and if you can get a nice contrasting darker wood they compliment each other. The bottom piece is it Bois de Rose or Cocobolo? It looks like a member of the rosewood family. The beads would enhance the grip of the pen and give a nice tactile feel for the user. The only thing that I would do is same timber at the top either beaded like the bottom or the same design as the Maple. There is a lot happening in the design, I tend to follow the design from the nib, looking at the transition from nib to barrel then to the top of the pen. The straight bit would be the only thing I would change. As always your precision in fit up and finish is flawless.

    G'day Kruger,
Fascinating pen! As Darren said, your precision is unreal. Where does the pen split? If it is where the dark wood meets the maple, does that mean that the top half is quite a bit longer than the standard?

    Cheers,

    Rick

yes the bottom is 1/3 and the top is 2/3 long. his split in the last dark bead.

the dark wood is cocobolo from my"trash" treasure.they are not the same, but trash cocobolo was as good for a first attempt.
i will try a another with an close end in the same wood.
and perhaps I go can be to do one with a purified line of them.

your compliments make me hot in the heart.
    Thanks

Kruger, I am very impressed with your different designs and talent, as darren said, possibility of altering the top brown bit to match the bottom is worth trying, excellent.Amos
