Thanks mate for the advice ;-)

I will differ from the crowd. I only use the same kind of silicone that the mould is made of. It isn't hard to mix a tiny 10 gram batch with a small digital scale. Wipe it on with the tip of a gloved finger.

Next time you make a mould do it in three stages. Stand it on end and pour those nipples. A little popsicle stick or coffee stir stick works as a mini spoon. After they set turn the mould on to its other end and pour those nipples. When they set lay the mould down and do the big pour. Never touch the ends of the nipples with your finger before the final pour or your greasy finger tips may keep them from sticking to the main pour and they will rip off. It may take longer but you don't get bubbles that way.

I have the vertical stuff done for my mold it should have 5x 29mm tubes and 4x25mm tubes with a seperate filling tank on each tube ( all as pen Dai sensei) so this is sure going to be a challenge to do correctly but should be fun

    Cheers Ian

Ian just make a box to go around and under your molds to support them under pressure , warming the mixture up by standing your mixing container in a container of hot water will thin the mixture and help it to flow ,also vibrating on a jig saw or bandsaw table, or anything that has some vibrations will mostly raise any bubbles before the gell stage . Also with uneven surfaces you can wipe a bit of your mixed poly allover the blank to help fill any voids that can be hard to get the mixture to penetrate at times . I usually have no bubbles and rarely use pressure ,unless there are deep holes to fill such as banksias and worthless woods ,and various other items we cast hehe. keep up the good work cheers ~ John

    Hey John

Thanks mate for the info so I am probably best just casting my shedded blanks as normal and just go though the steps to reduce the bubbles then. I think I might build a warning chamber aswell. Still gonna get a pressure pot so I can do some WW and Banksia and other projects similar
    Thanks

Your moulds look great. I have tried making but using an external plug. Mine leaks!

Question: (hope you don’t mind sharing) how did you create the nipples in the original?
