Don't worry about the air holes, but be warned, do not put your casts in this type of mold in pressure >20psi MAX. Any higher and the resin will be forced into the tube.

Personally I don't use this type of mold under pressure.

If you need to use pressure pack the tube with Play-do or plumbers putty. Make sure it is all the way packed from one end and push it in with a dowel or skewer so you don't trap an air pocket in the middle.

The ones I made also had a few holes but worked Ok as the holes didn't go all the way along the plug. If yours do, then I guess you will need to fill them with a bit more silicon. The plugs should also be the same size as the drill for the tubes (ie larger than the tube) so that they squeeze in and seal properly.

The only issue with playdo etc is make sure there is no residue left on the outside of the tube, as this will cause a debonding issue, but easily fixed with a wipe of metho

Thanks mate most of them go all the way along the plug there only about 6 that need to be fixed will normal silicon do? ?? And the plugs were drilled to the OD size of the tubes

Hey Ian those moulds look good, from what I can see the nipples are pretty good too, I dont reckon you need to fill them at all. If you dont mind me asking why do you need pressure when using these moulds?

Thanks mate I am pretty happy with the way they turned out ) I am using the pressure for my snake skin blank and some other projects on the side just sick of bubbles forming after the resin starts to gel ruining my blanks :mad: and I am doing a heap of the snake skin blanks and finishing into pens for WAs first ever reptile expo in May

Try some bathroom and kitchen silicone you can get from Bunnings. I stuff I used was white and is a high quality. It's not really sticky stuff like the clear cheaper ones and set overnight and fills all the holes perfectly. It is easy to spread into the holes using a paddle pop stick or wet your finger and push it in - won't stick to a wet finger. When its dry you can trim it with a scalpel if you need to.

Hey All

Here is a pic of the types of molds I have atm. So mine has been recommended for 20psi so now the question is what about these other two what u recommend for the Resin saver and the one I got from Fred in the USA awhile back ;-)

For repair I just used some plain cheap clean silicone caulk on my Mold Max mold. I was not sure it would work because it was on a high stress area but it has held up. What a nice surprise Just make sure it is clean and oil free before applying.
