Very nice .. almost has an oak look to it.
Wonder if the city would like to buy back a piece of the park's history?

Very nice, its a pity the trees had to come down but at least some of the wood is getting used.

Some trees, large Moreton Bay figs were recently poisoned in Ipswich and the council chipped them. Trees were in excess of 100 years old.

Your one came out lighter than my one and I used a copper kit on mine.

Wow, that's one HUGE pen! It must be taller than you, based on size comparison to the skateboard!!

And if it came from Sydney, shouldn't it be a Botany Bay fig?

Sawdust maker man that is one nice piece of fig, love the darker grain in it. Sam yours must be really dark then cause the fig i have is a real creamy colour. The fit of the components are smooth and a nice finish as well. As Sam said some low life vandals poisoned some beautiful figs, so sad to see history destroyed

Poisoning such nice trees should be a capital offence
at least the ones in Sydney were crook - there was an outcry when the public found out they were to go and thorough checks were carried out (so we were told anyway)

That is really deep grainy look to the wood, in fact it looks figlike!Like it, well done. Sad when such beautiful trees have to come down. Amos
