    Default Musk Burl Sedona - FIL's 60th

Well I've mentioned it several times before. Tomorrow is the day, the Father In Law's 60th birthday.

Here's the Sedona I made for him - Black Titanium, sanded, MM'd, then Shellawaxed. It's going in one of those Deluxe velvet cases, along with a little card about the wood & pen. I used a tripod for this picture, under natural light inside, on a piece of copy paper and pushed the exposure in photoshop to get the background white again. I need a little more depth of field on the lens though, as the uncapped picture goes out of focus on the end.

That's a very handsome pen, Russell. Nicely done.
I had the same trouble getting both ends in focus until a professional photographer advised me to set my aperature to f20, let the camera select the shutter speed, and use a tripod. It works.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Cheap camera, no aperture priority, damn it! That's what happens when you rush into a purchase

Best I can do is try and flood the image with more light to force it to a high f-stop, as that seems to be the only way to get it to change. I tried setting it to long exposure, but that just pushes the brightness while retaining the same aperture setting.

Very nice pen Russell, your FIL will be pleased.

Have a great day, BTW make sure you get good ink for the pen I recommend Noodlers, come in many colours.

Noodlers? I assume that is refillable ink? I just plugged in the supplied cartridge for now. Are the supplied inks no good?

Ink cartridges are Ok but a converter and real quality bottled ink is so much better IMHO

Definitely no Indian Ink and only one use of the pen as the nib moulds to the persons hand, the more it is used the better it gets.

Well, it seems to have gone down OK. Bit hard to tell, didn't get that much of a comment from him, but I think he liked it.
