John,
It was great to see these pens in the "flesh" or wood I should say. They do look great!!
I must say it was great spending a few hours with you obtaining a few tips and seeing your setup as well as seeing all your fantastic pen collections and other bits and pieces. I have a long way to go to get to where you are but can assure you I'm on to it, it is only a matter of time
You have inspired me to take my pen turning to the next level, and cannot wait until you send me through the info as to where I get all my casting materials, resins, colours, solid and translucents, I am so looking forward to experimenting and making some castings and turning my first ones.
Remember you are more than welcome to catch up and check out my CNC anytime.
Much appreciated John
Thanks
Tony.

Thanks Tony you are too kind , ( glad you saw my collection before seeing a real master collection hehe.) All of us owe so much of our knowledge and skills to those who have gone before ,and cheerfully passed on hints tips and WIPs . If we can build on that knowledge and improve ours, and in turn others skills then we have done well . To me knowledge unshared is no knowledge at all , I believe in Karma ,what goes round comes around ,it all balances in the end I have sent you an email of those details you wanted , and if you PM Dai sensei I am sure he can fill in the gaps in the casting process and materials . Now too figure how I can incorporate a CNC router into pen making lol .

John,
I never told you!! actually I forgot to tell you!! but I will be adding what is called an indexer to my CNC at some stage kinda like a lathe but CNC controlled to do much more than a lathe. This along with the CNC may open up some avenues for something different
Cheers
Tony.

Hehe! a 4th axis is really getting into the spacial realms lol. could do your own " laser cut" styles or something typically aussie (kangas koalas platypus etc ) I think you need a fairly strong laser cutter for this work, but a fine router bit would make light work of such things . The mind boggles with possabilities .
