Northern Silver Ash Pens.
It’s a pleasure to work with a great natural product - wood! More particularly any wood in the Flindersia family that has been expertly milled, and treated well post the saw!
In this instance Northern Silver Ash - Flindersia bourjotiana which has a natural range from Mt Fox (southwest of Ingham) to Cooktown. The fella who milled them so expertly often says "I knew it when it was a tree."
Nice white woods are hard to get and often suffer from poor pre-saw log handling or post saw handling, with blue stain etc.
Our forum mate John.G at MAST (Mayne Specialty Timbers) had a small pack of this beautiful wood a fair while back now, so it found a new home very fast! It has been shared with two fellow woodies - Powderpost & Dengue who have made some outstanding items from it.
One cannot articulate the joy of working with such a beautiful natural product.Mobyturns
