Nice set, great looking timber. That Rustins looks like a goof finish to use, did you use it according to Froggie's method, ie CA first?

Played around with CA this afternoon on some trials, you're right it does stink!

Was surprised when I read froggie's instructions for the Rustins to first use CA..

Nice set, how long before you can use the pen after assembly?

HH you can use them once you have them assembled. I usually wait 48hrs after the rustins is applied before assembling

I like matched sets. I also like Malle burl. Put 'em together and you have a winner!

My only (minor) criticism is over the bottom of the keyring... I reckon that, like a pen, the end of the blank should merge into the fitting.

As for the Rustin's, well... all the benefits of CA without the health hazards? It's a winner.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    HH,

It's rustin's plastic coating, available from Jim Carroll.

Thanks Skew without constructive critique all our attemps would be average I reckon.
It was a deliberatly recessed keyring, I like to experiment with shapes and this one I reckon did ok because of the figuring in the burl. I try to maximise good figuring over form. If it had been a plain looking timber I would have merged both ends.
