Olive wood
Out of the blank room into the light different source, the grain changed three times as I turned it.

Good onya Peter,
That's the way to revive flagging interest in the skill of pen making.... like you have, by example, showing a beauty like this.
Well done!!

Beautiful. Never saw a piece of olivewood that I didn't admire.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

I brought back 1/2 a ton of mixed branches and trunk, another time I found several logs cut on a nature strip ,you know the way people do when they want you to help yourself. If you harvest you can find grain is elusive and in the heartwood,be prepared its very heavy wet or dry, slow drying. I dried mine in my roof space with a house fan blowing on it 24/7 and used it when a sample stack showed no change I checked each week. For me it was a patience thing.
I will look for a pic in my roof space there was a lot of Olive blanks there at this time. Have fun it will exercise your bandsaw no end.
Kind regards Peter.Nil Desperandum
