Oops, I stuffed up - HELP!!!
OK well, sue me for rushing ina gain and not thinking things through.
The strecthed Cigar for my BIL - I forgot the purpose of the finial! As you can see in the attached picture, the twist mechanism is a long way short from engaging in the finial, which holds the pen together and activates the twist.
When people made suggestions on doing this when I originally posted the idea a month or so ago, I must have missed the bit about extending the barrel, I thought it was only extending the nib end that was a problem, but as you can see I am wrong.
Anyone got any ideas how I can correct the problem and get the pen holding together (it falls apart currently) and haev the twist mechanism engaged? I've either go to extend the current mechanism out somehow to engage the finial, or put some sort of bush on the current mechanism that will engage the tube, but still allow the pen to to separated again.
What do you think of the idea of gluing the top of the twist mechanism inside the tube at the appropriate height, and to change the refill, you'd have to twist the pen hard enough to unscrew the mechanism from the nib end each time?
*sigh*

bummer
Can you get another finial, cut it down and press the bit that engages the mechanism into the the tube to the right depth to engage. (or is it wood at that point and not brass?)
Probably means dismantling the clip endregards

Hmm that should work if you can get it attached, but you've given me an idea that may be simpler, if I'm willing to sacrifice another cigar kit. I'll push the current finial connector down far enough to engage, then trim a new one and fit bck in the top to attach the finial,
Wish me luck, or the whole penw ill be kerput if I mess it up.

I will have a look at a cigar and see if I can make you an extension from the filial end to engage the activator ! unless you have a better plan ,just let me know should basically be the length of one tube to allow it to work,
whoops too late hehe, you posted while I was .Last edited by gawdelpus; 6th April 2009 at 02:50 PM. Reason: too late !
