Opinions and Comments Wanted
G'day Fellow Addicts,
Well our new website is nearly finished so what I would like is some comments on it.
Click on the link below and take a look and don't be scared to give me your honest opinions.

Well overall I think it looks good. Was expecting something completely different to the old one, but I guess it's more of a refinement. The new navigation is better than the old site.
Some things that I stopped me while navigating around, which can be good or bad depending on whether you want it noticed. Note these are not all criticisms, just comments.
1. Not sure about the "80x40 graphics" version of "addictive" in your title banner, looks a bit "cheap".
2. The courier font on the contact info, being larger as well, hit me like a brick when I opened that page. At least you can't miss it. If you're going to have your contact email plain text anyway, why not have it hyperlinked for ease? I don't like them much myself, but for the net challenged, what about a contact form?
3. Not essential, but since you have a special naviagtion link for the "plating" page, how about some sample pictures for those who may not be sure what the descriptions are referring to?
4. your "Skin Pen Blanks" page has a glitch at the bottom, where it says "There are no products to list in this category." after it lists products in this category
5. Your navigation menu's still have a glitch on the background sizing when sub-categories are expanded - the background is larger than the border. I'm using Firefox btw.
6. The "Drill Bits" subcategory is above the sub-category header on the "pen making tools" page.
7. Same with "Mandrels & Bushes", and "Glamourz Pen Blanks" and "Berea Hardwoods Pen Kits" which also have the "Skin Blanks" problem as well.
8. I'd hyperlink each of your images on your home page, for those who like that they see and want to jump straight in.
9. I'm running a fairly high resolution, but I would imagine the banner logo is rather large. It could probably be halved in size & still be as effective.
10. American format DOB *sigh*
11. Your signup form has some fields marked mandatory, but not highlighted.
12. Is the shopping cart supposed to be working? The confirmation email I got was not from your company
13. Oh, there is a contact form on the signup, refer back to #2??
14. You need a link back to the shopping cart somewhere in the navigation menus
15. This line appreas when selecting items
"Products marked with *** dont exist in desired quantity in our stock.
You can buy them anyway and check the quantity we have in stock for immediate deliver in the checkout process."
But I see no way to check the quantity in stock in the checkout process, it seems to be letting me finalise without changing or checking.
16. Rotating banners are annoying to me, but that's a person thing. Others may like them.
Is that enough for now?

The top title block doesn't suit what you're selling.
The home page looks to much like the old site.
The Categories section on the left isn't very easy to navigate.
The Cambridge kits are nowhere to be found

Froggie
I don't care what the others say. I think it is a massive improvement over your last site. It is a big undertaking to keep a site like that going. That many pages it is very hard to get them all right. Mine is only a tiny site and it took ages to sort out the bugs, I've only been learning the stuff for a short while so its still crap.
I quite like the header/logo. I like the animated gif. It gives a good overview of some of your products.
I think why it still has there are no products to show is there are categories listed, Not single items. It's pretty easy to miss as you don't really work on those pages much, usually just the actual product pages.
Russell, I think you said you sell boomerangs for a living. You may need to improve your website as well. These days websites are are great form of advertising.
Even some pictures would be nice. As long as they are better quality than mine as they are pretty poor.

Definite step up, froggie, still got some minor teething issues though.
my 2 cents worth:
- shopping cart says 'Your "Visitors Cart" contents will be merged with your "Members Cart" contents once you have logged on.', followed by a hypertexted '[more info]'. The hypertext 'more info' doesnt do anything.
- contact page might want to have the email address hyperlinked
- A 'view cart' option visible all the time would be good for navigationaly challenged types like myself .
Good to see lots & lots of pics! been a busy chap then?Coffee, chocolate, women. Some things are better rich.

Yep, if I wanted to seriously sell through my web site, it would need a major overhaul. It was designed in the good old days of hand SEO. But it's currently ranked #2 on google for the search "Beginner boomerangs" which is exactly where I want it (well, #1 would be better, but can't win em all :P), so I'm not willing to tamper. Most of my sales are actually through Ebay. I have several other web sites which are completely different, depending on the target market.
I'm not saying there's anything majorly wrong with Froggie's site (except for the glitches), just helping iron out the bugs.

Well worth the effort you have put in ,nobody here is being critical ,just responding to the thread, it will take some time to get it right and feedback is always welcome in these cases, the only thing I found was the drill vice had no price as yet in the first place I looked , and then in another section it's listed at $80 , so one is right and one is wrong hehe, Good work though definitely on the right track, and if the shop works online will save heaps on phone calls cheers JD
