Organising Bushes
How do you keep track of your bushes so you know what bushes fit what pen? How do you keep them?
Thanks

I have a piece of wood with 50 large nails passing through it. Originally it was for the blanks at the various stages (drilling, turning etc), but now I also use it for the bushes/sleeves. I haven't labelled it, so I do have to check I have the right bushes. Unfortunately I did bump it over once and they went all over the floor - pain to work out which bush went with which

Toni,
I do it two ways. I try and keep the bushes in the labelled pack they come in and I keep them in the same box the pen parts are in. I use fishing tackle boxes as shown.

Hi Toni,
For the Berea kits I have made a bush set quick reference chart it will tell you exactly what bushes are used for a particular pen would you like one with the catalogue I am sending you today.

Ditto.
Unfortunately I did bump it over once and they went all over the floor - pain to work out which bush went with which
Now I'm storing them in the ziplock bags that the pen-kits originally came in, with the set number written on the outside in texta. I keep all the ziplock bags stored together in an old 50 CDROM spindle, with the base screwed underneath an overhead shelf.
The modern version of the shed jam-jars.
Now that I'm blessed with a laminated look-up chart I think I'll sticky-tape that to the outside of the spindle so I can see it at a glance before I even reach for a set of bushes.

Yup . .. me three.
Coz for one, theres gotta be a use for all those little lock tight baggies ya get with all those kits. Would be good if I was a drug dealer on the side. May make more money doing that too ... hmmm .. nah .. gotta turn more pens
Now .. the cd rom case? I like that idea. Wondered what I could use them for. Although, I only have . .. erm ..dvd rom cases .. not that they are any different, and they are purely used to back up my own collection. Promise

I had also ask this question on another board, I share there brilliant idea too to add to the list. Instead of the zippy bags they are using the shower curtains with label stuck onto them. It looks a cool idea. sliding along on a piece of dowel

Barely, Jude. Just barely.
It's just some treated pine I had left over from the steps on the back deck. Don't have any other use for it, it's useless as firewood and I certainly won't turn it! So it saved me from "wasting" the good stuff.
'Sides, it's 14" deep so I can (and do) stack pen-blanks up to 3 deep, the front ones stacked so high I can't get to my CD spindles. That's one helluva lot of weight and the brackets have been bent a couple of times.
Yes, there are. [gloat, gloat ] The pile in the middle are thanks to Rowie and Bdar.
Now I've got to mortgage the house to pay Jim & Froggie for the kits to put in 'em!
