Painted tubes
I spent the afternoon setting up a rig for painting tubes - not to hide the brass from casting - but fully painted tubes. Then I painted 2 Sierra tubes. They will take a week at least to dry and then I will have my first attempt at casting. WARNING - if you live near me - wear sound proof ear plugs as I can get a bit verbal if things go bad
I will post photos after the tubes are dry.

I did a slimline where I painted in red glitter nail polish then cast them.
There seems to be a white patch between the 2 layers, maybe should have turned the tubes in the mould to get a good join between the 2.
I also did one in black glitter on a sierra tubes, resin chipped out on the edge and took a bit of polish with it. I'll put more polish on it and recast, see if I can save it.
I've ordered pearlex pigments.
Looking for the flouro ones on google at the moment.
Monday is off to nyplex to get more resin.
Think I better order mould making silicone as well.

There was only a day or 2 between polishing and casting,
I'll wait longer next time.
Does a dehydrator help with this?
Maybe I need one of these as well.
I also did some banksia nuts in translucent yellow vertically in conduit, Lot lots of resin plugs along the way (20%). I turned it down to almost finished size and will cast again in silicone mould.

I only wait overnight for nail polish and paints to dry, so that probably wasn't the problem, more likely some moisture. What was the weather like? Try wiping down with metho before casting.
Banksia can be a problem, the video will help hopefully, you probably didn't have enough room around the actual nut. Tube or silicon won't make any difference.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
