Very nice John, that's gonna be a fast mover.
How does the polymer clay hold up as a base for your clear cast during turning? Is it fairly sturdy stuff? I might have to borrow that technique.

Beautiful work John. Casting is way out of my league at the moment so all I can do is sit back and admire. Again well done.

Reece ! depending on what you are using the clay to embed it is quite sturdy, the clay is like plasticine till you bake it at about 130 degrees , in this case as the shells were pressed in to the very thin layer of clay to the metal of the tube it didn't need cooking ,as I cast these without pressure it all works well , You can lightly sand baked polymer or use a Ca finish or such. The main thing with any of this stuff is to ensure that you have enough "meat" between the tube and the fittings to allow for matching fittings after turning and finishing , cheers ~ John

Nice pen John!!!
My son brought a little box of Paua shell pieces back from NZ for me. Some are a reasonable size and I'm stll deciding what to do with them.
