First pen of 2011
This Red Fir Bark Slimline was made for one of the fellows at our Woodcraft store. His 'click' pen was self-ejecting the click
mechanism and his pen was a little shabby looking so I started this Friday as a gift for him.
Bored some bark to get rings and trued them on the disk sander and then glued the rings together with Loctite Sumo. I then stabilized the bark and filled all the beetle holes with coffee grounds and CA.
Once turned I then brought my dipping rack into the house Saturday afternoon and finished with 6 dips one hour apart of Waterborne Enduro.
Polished out with 6000 - 12000 and then Brasso at 6am this morning.
The pen is resting on one of the bark rings and you can see what the beetle holes look like that I fill.
I'm sorry for the poor photo but it was shot freehand at the store as they were closing and the flash was putting spots on the pen.

Hi Rod
Happy to say Happy new Year to you as well as say I like your Pen that must have been punky and troublesome. You sure gave it a good nudge. Like it on lots of levels.
Kind Regards Peter.

That great idea turned out to be a very unique looking blank.
I really like the looks of the Red Fir Bark, reminds me a bit of Pine Cone.
Your friend will be pleased to receive.
Well done!
