pen 9 tricks.
I turned my first 4 pen 9's today and I was disapointed by the action on the first.
This is a push button "click" pen using a parker insert with the rachet moulded in the top.
At first it wouldn't reliably cycle especialy fast.
Having a look I found thet the spring was causing the mec to bind.
The insert supplied with this and a number of other kits has the spring attached to the insert by having one end of the spring tight on the insert shaft.
this is fine on a twist pen like the americana but on a proper parker style mec.... not good.
So to fix it.
look carefully at the spring.
one end of the spring is wound tighter than the other.
Clip 2 or three turns off the tight end with some sharp small cutters.
insert the spring cut end down into the bottom half
hello uncle bob.
smooth reliable action.
just turning the spring over wont fix as the tip binds on the tight end.
cheersAny thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.
