I've been using an ancient version of LView Pro for eons now. I won't upgrade it, because it isn't a bloated piece of crap like everything MS touched since the introduction of WIN95 ..
it's small, fast, stand alone, works on every OS I've used , but the thing
you need to watch out for is making sure it DOES NOT UPGRADE!
It's version 1.D2 and I've had it since 93. I won't give it up. You double click on an image file and it just opens ,without firing up another suite of programs that play music while you view, show movies while you wait for
the program to open, send your name, address and bank passwords to an offshore account while it checks to see if the program is compatible with Vista etc. etc.
It just works. Plain and simple. You might find a copy of the old version online somewhere. If not, send an email offlist and I'll see if I can find the installer program somewhere.

Thinking outside the box here (pun intended!!!!
) could thick bamboo be used, thin slice off the top length ways and ends filled with 'something'. Hinging could be leather glued inside end fill???
This might give a quick 'box' if you could get hold of the bamboo size required.
Just a thought, not a classy box necessarily, but certainly novel!!

Hi guys,I've been away for a couple of days.
You got some great ideas there.
Toni, your BS box is a great one!!,,and the bamboo too.
It'ld be nice ,for me anyway,if I could make my own,for nice pens, and it adds something to the pen.
Some people I gave/sold pens to won't use them, lol. They say they're afraid they'll loose them.
I told them if they did,I can make another one, lol.
I saw you speaking about pictures,I was trying to make a websire a few weeks ago,I had a 30 day free trial offer, but it ran out,,,,and, anyway,I downloaded a thing called "easy thumbnails",,it make pics smaller so they'ld fit on a website.
Don't know if that'ld be any good to yee.
I might try to get a close up look at some of the pen boxes for sale on the web,and try and see how they hinge them. Not that I want to take business from anyone making them, just for my own use, also,if I made my own pen box for a certain pen,I could make the woods match,or compliment each other.
Anyway,talk to you later,Steve.

Found it: http://sitereportcard.com/imagereducer.php Does GIF, JPG, & PNG. Seemed pretty painless: no bells, whistles, phone home, music or movies IIRC. Provides about 7 examples at varying levels of compression. One man's fish is another man's poisson, of course.

Hi all
I have been making boxes for most of my pen from the timber the pen is made from Pen And Pencil sets or single pen .
2 Pieces 180 x55 x 10 and 2 x 5mm Barrel Hinges
I have a jig for grooving both pieces another jig for drilling for the barrel hinges
the back of the box is bevelled on the router table to allow the box to open
I could put a step x step method up if anyone was interesred.
I tried to post a picture,it said it was too large ,but it has been posted before
I have posted pictures of the boxes before on the Forum

If you want to make your pen boxes out of wood, then ignore the rest of this...
I recently went through the exercise of trying to find a 'nice' way to present some pens, and ended up using CD gift boxes.

1 pen sheoak, the other sheoak, jarrah, black butt and paper bark...the trick is dont make lid to high or the pens will fall out.dont make recess to deep for the pens to sit in
