pen engraving
Hi all,
I've had an inquiry from a potential customer who wanted me to find out if it was possible to get engraving done on wooden pens, she was interested in getting some sierras done with a student's name and the year on the wooden barrel, I would then do a ca finish over the top.
Has anyone had this done this before, how should I go about it?
any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated
Steve

Hey Steve,
Amos is your man over there,
I get heaps of pens done over here (WA) and I usually have them finished, ie, CA and Polished, then they are Laser Engraved and Ebonized (spelling) some timbers ebonize well and those that don't, well we paint fill them, or use Gold or Silver Rub 'n' Buff.
Good Luck

Hey Bookend,
I think its Steelwool disolved in Vinegar, don't know quantities but it reacts with the tannens in the timber an turns them black, that's why you need to finish and seal the pen before engraving.
