Ive used triple e from u beaut and it seems to be lasting while not new it may be new to you. I sand to a fine finish and then apply the triple e and buff, the beauty is no waiting time.

I've been using Shellawax glow. Worth a try of you haven't already done so.

Thanks for your replies, I have tried glow and triple E but found that the finish does not last, maybe the heat up here.

Triple EEE is not a finish, it is only a liquid abrasive, it often gets confused as being a finish on its own merits.
Buts it just an abrasive,i think the reason it gets confusing is because it does polish the timber to certain degree an yes it does look good, but we are only viewing highly polished timber.
Hopefully Neil will see this an had further comments, especially considering he makes the Stuff,[emoji6].
I’m a fan of CA finish, an note that’s not wanted, have you tried Shellac it goes on easy dries fast.
Cheers Matt.

I always find that CA is a hit and miss for me, may be it the heat here?

The poms use Chestnut Melamine lacquer for a pen finish.
https://chestnutproducts.co.uk/produ...ine-lacquer-2/
This is not available in Australia.
Is this Pre-Catalyzed Spray Lacquer similar?
https://www.timbecon.com.au/pre-catalyzed-spray-lacquer
If it is similar would I need the Lacquer Sanding Sealer and Lacquer Thinners?
https://www.timbecon.com.au/lacquer-sanding-sealer
https://www.timbecon.com.au/lacquer-thinners
If this is OK I have a few other things I have turned waiting for a suitable finish.

For a lot of pens and some bowls I use White Knight Crystal Clear acrylic lacquer. It lasts well on pens and doesn't yellow. It comes in Satin or Gloss finish in spray cans, so no other equipment needed. I sand to 600 and then apply four or five very light coats. One can usually does a couple of bowls, or more if they are small. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Gary H

Hi,
I use gloss Poly, takes longer but is a good hard wearing finish.
Micromesh after and it gets a beautiful finish.

Here in South Africa as a result of the Covid Pandemic we sanitise our hand frequently with a alcohol based sanitiser. Like the doctors do in hospitals. My daughter a Doctor uses pens made by me and found that non CA finishes don't last . The sanitiser/alcohol destroys the finish very quickly. So my daughter has now become my pen finish tester. And the pens themselves get wiped down with alcohol disinfectatnt after every patient . (daughter runs a large Emergency dept who see about 100-150 patients a day of which 50 plus were positive for Covid during the height of the [pandemic waves. )
It seems that only the CA finishes have survived, haven;t tried a two part epoxy .
So if you want to test a finish donate a pen to a doctor in a busy Emergency dept in a big hospital. It will get a tough test and the Doc will be gratefull
