You and I share this great site supported by the wonderful products made and sold by U Beaut,I believe it all comes down to preparation, preparation, preparation.Consult with them first, then, try then compare then get together with others near you and make your decision based on knowledge you gain. Here in Canberra I witness continually a man called Richard Raffan acknowledged as a world leader in Turning who practices wonderful preparation and simple finishes one of which is Bees Wax which incidentally is included in U Beaut finishes as well.
If you want or need a totally reflective finish you will have to become a spray painter etc.
Send pm s to some of the contributers you admire,be warned many of our best finishers are unable to present them well enough for you to judge but believe me their word is their bond.
Take care and have fun. Peter

This thread should give you some ideas on the different types of finishes available. Everything mentioned in there has been covered in greater detail elsewhere in these forums; it doesn't take much to search for more info.
(I could provide some of the links here, but you learn so much more when you go searching for them yourself. )

Have any of the forumites ever used nitro cellulose for finishing pens?

HI Artme, I can't say I have ever heard a pen finished with it. What I would do is try it and then use taht pen for everything and see how it holds up/ Then come back and let us all see what it looks like
just a thought

I've only used NC as a sanding sealer. Don't know how it'd stand up as a finish... I think Toni has the right idea. Suck it and see. (Then come back and tell us how it goes. )
