Looks like you have had success and finish looks good.
The colour of the feathers look a bit strange in the photo. Did they end up like the original feathers, or have you had a reaction to the resin/glue etc?
Did you follow my advise re glue etc, or have you been successful in makiing improvements? Any learnings to pass on.

Ian pricing is the tricky bit hehe, check what a matching or similar blank might cost ,from $20 dollars upwards , add a kit and what you normally get for your time invested in the pen, then be realistic according to your market and their expectations. Some of my pens have considerable time invested ,rarely translates into cash successfully ,if you produce something that's outstanding chances are you will get a better price for your efforts ,but at the markets I do there are mostly bargain hunters hehe. I would think for your feathers somewhere between 55-75 dollars would be a marketable price . Some will get more but mostly not I feel . Part of our payment is the challenge and enjoyment we get personally from what we do ,as long as you are getting more than costs and a bit more to keep on going then ,that also needs to be taken into account , I can never get what my steam punk watch parts pens are worth ,but the pleasure from making them and other things is a consideration . Cheers ~ John

Hey Ian,
Like John said, what do you charge for a standard Sedona??? I get $65.00 for a wooden Sedona, A Feather blank from the interweb would be at least $20.00 so $85.00 would be a good startiing point, how many did you try before you got this one right????. I Always keep my first one anyway and they are Priceless.
Good luck mate

Hey dai sensei mate I took what you said and had a good long think about it I used kwik grip glue in a spray form it seem to work ok I sprayed the tubes with black gloss spray paint now I have used it before when casting and never had a problem with it with my last lot of resin but this stuff seem to melt it ??? So I am gonna try water based paint on the next on and see how I go I am also gonna try a different glue. I also tried two different clear sealers on this on a water based one and a acrylic one they both seem to work ok but I think the reason why some of the feathers look strange is because of the paint melted due to resin I think thats how and thats how I did this one. Hey John thanks mate I am not even sure if I want to let it go but I just had to ask yous guys coz I had no idea what price to set it at and I love nothing better then spending time on a pen it takes me into my own little world . Hey Hazza thanks mate I sell my Sedona's for the same price but like you said the first one should be a keeper and this is just my second one that I have casted the first one was a bin job lol. Hey saw dustmaker thanks mate glad you like it yous guys should see the custom pens I have done for the pen swap I just couldnt wait lol Ian

If the paint is giving you trouble you could go the powder coat route
or buy some from for example hereregards

Has anyone tried using those big permanent marker pens to black the tubes ?
-

Yes, I have and it is a bit hit and miss as the black tends to wiped away when you pass over a previously done bit.
I find the best and most fool proof way getting a black tube is to use Black Patina used by leadlighters.
Have been using that for a long time and it is quick and repeatable. It also etches the surface of the tube and glue sticks to it like the proverbial.

I still have feathers/stamps/whatnot on the "tuit" list(you know, when I get 'roun tuit'...
Painted my tubes white though, but now that I see the way yours look the rest might get done in black.....I like the ay it blanded together.
Did you spray a coat of something on the feather before casting them?
