Nicely done on the pen! Maybe one day you can get a pen to sell, but you'll need to keep 'secrets' from the wife



Photo tip:
Use a plain white background. This gives you the ability to change the photo in software until the background matches(the camera will look to change it to 'neutral grey'). It also forces the sensor to focus on the pen(not the texture of the background).

I have actually been able to sell a few so far which is good (helps to buy more blanks and kits)
The photo was just taken with an iPhone, the only digital camera i have is an Olympus tough camera and it has had its name tested quite a few times, it is bit of a pain in the &@$# to use, I am hoping to get an SLR in a few months before an O/S trip, and there is a half day course coming up that is meant to teach you good things about shooting close up stationary (excuse the Pun) items

the colour is awesome in it, the photo is dodgy, there is a real pearl to both colours, the only problem is there is one small bit of brass showing through the cream near the nib, but other than that it came up great

Nice Pen mate for a first one I am not a lover of these types of shapes and the standard slimline centre band tends to make you want to do this. Try the larger streamline centre bands they allow you to produce a thicker bodied pen.

Oh by the way I last week put the finishing touches to my Australia day pens so whenever you want to catch up let me know

Looking forward to seeing many more of your photos as you progress.

As far as shape goes i don't like the straight turned slimline as they are too thin and when I make a pen to use all day i dont like it to be to thick, I personally prefer the feel of this shape and so have a couple of family members, but like you said not everyone is a fan and i don't want to get stuck doing one type, i have a couple of streamline kits here but i forgot to order bushes so i am going to have a go at just using the Verniers to measure one up until i place my next order, i have been playing with some Sierras as well at the moment and am happy with how they are coming out, and also a couple of other types of kits,

as far as the pen swap goes I was halfway through yours until a slight blank ruining issue but I am in the process of sorting out something else, As weekends are really my only free time (is that the same for you) i am thinking around march 16-17 for a meet up?

Good to hear you are getting in there with the verniers, good way to go. I too change shapes here and there its all part of the fun I guess. Good to hear you are progressing with different kits too they all have their own little challenges
Haha !! blank ruining issues it happens to us all and more so when you just do not need it, but then that's just the way it is which can be frustrating sometimes.
Whilst I have finished both my swap pens I am not totally finished yet But hope to be soon as I will be off to the UK on business with a little bit of pleasure mixed in from mid to the end of this month. So do not panic or stress. Our get together may have to be after I get back if that's the way things work out
I know what you mean about weekends only and even they get consumed by other chores sometimes.

Congrats on the first pen. You and your wife want to keep it because in the future you will look at it fondly as the stating point and to see how far you advance your skills.

We have a couple Toughs in the household and they can be setup to take great pen pictures. Put it on a tripod, set it on iAuto so you can play with each manual setting like macro, white balance, exposure and shoot with the self timer to eliminate shake. Once you have settings established your pictures will be good every time. Even with an SLR you will need to go through a similar learning process to get good pictures. Admittedly the SLR will be easier to adjust but they suck underwater.
