New pens
Hi,
Had some time in the shed. Made 2 JR Gent pens - one rollerball and one fountain. 2 twist pens and 2 letter openers. All pens made with hairy bark oak.
Thanks for looking.

nice pens todd but I am not sure about the letter openers although they look great in my opinion they would look much better if you turned them alot thicker so that they were flush with the fittings on either end. it is just my opinion so its up to you but they are still nice work.
Cheers Ian

I agree Dorno. I was following directions - the instructions say to turn down to the bushes. I think it needs at lest 10mm bushes.

if you have alot of bushes laying around like i do then look to see if you have 2 Euro centerband bushes then try them because that's what i use.

Hey there Todd, great effort on the pens, I can see a that you have put a lot of effort in & the results speak for themself. However the letter openers are well over turned. If it were me I would disassemble & re-turn two new blanks to the correct size using a vernier or similar and wallah you will have two really nice matching sets. Keep up the good work.

The problem is that the instructions from timberbits say to use streamline bushes. Do I turn down to the bushes? If so they are going to be thin.

To me it looks like you have used slimline bushes not streamline bushes.

streamline bushes will still be a fraction too small but out of the strealine bushes it will only be the centre bush that would go close. I have just had a look in timberbits instructions and cannot find letter opener instructions. They are closer to elegant beauty size or as I said above.
Cheers Ian

No criticism at all to timberbits - I just seem to remember that I read that I had to use streamline bushes. Maybe because u need to use 7mm bushes.
