Thread: Pens for Work

Neil,
Very nice work on the pens and best of luck
with the remainder of the order.
Just a word of wisdom though!
If you are climbing a ladder with chainsaw in
hand, do not come down the same way you
went up, i.e. ... "head first".

If I wasn't so busy all month I would have reminded neil that I have longer ladders and proper safety harnesses.
But then again he's probably still dirty that he missed that mango burl I picked up
cheersAny thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.

Neil nice pick up on the burl it has come up a treat. Although I am a fan of the Black Ti kits it does look out of place and as you said the Ti Gold will look better. There would be only two other kits that would work I think and that would be a bright or satin copper kit. Good luck with the rest of your pens.

I actually have access to those to at work, but I didn't want to draw attention the the fact I was trimming trees, especially given it is outside the clearing line.
There are only a few more small burls on the tree, not sure if it would be worth your effort coming down. Perhaps I'll get a photo of the tree.
Although work has asked me to make them, I did want to make them as a gift. The 50 was always only going to be for a few, the whole team just in the office is around 150, with field staff there are currently 400. I therefore have to draw the line at how much I am going to spend, but even if they do pay for them, they will limit how much they are willing to pay. Looks like I am limited to plain gold, even gold Ti is over my limit.
The only engraved clip at a reasonable price is a standard slimline from Timbercon, black clip with gold engraving, but the finish is hmmm a slimline I am tending towards Streamlines from Froggie, so I get the better finish, but using a home made resin center band with the company name inside. I am going to do a few trials, as it is all becoming a lot of work, something I don't need at the moment.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
