My latest pens
I finally got my hands on some Amboyna Burl. Second pen is an ebony. Both were sanded to 400 grit, then 8 coats of CA and micromesh (wet) to 12,000. Kit is an XL twist (cigar). These two pens will be Xmas gifts for my family. Critiques are welcome, I have many more to turn before Christmas, so if you have any suggestions, let me have em.
Photo information:
Pens are sitting on a pane of glass that was painted black on the bottom side. I have an external flash and shoot-through umbrella to camera right and a piece of tinfoil on the left to reflect the light back towards pen. I've included a photo of my set-up in case you were interested.

Great looking pens Chris I've got to get hold of some of that Amboyna...
Nice photos too. Perhaps they could be a bit lighter to bring out some more of the detail, but that's being picky

Chris,
Nice looking pens, hope you don't mind but I had a quick play on photoshop to reduce the shadows. I like the idea of the glass background but the ebony one is nearly lost in it. Maybe a white one for darker woods and a dark one for the light woods? Nice idea though.
CorbsIt's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

WOW
Only thing I'd suggest is saving those timbers for Emperors and such. Cigars are a bit pedestrian

Thanks for lightening the photos Corbs. I probably should have done that before posting them. And you're right about shooting the ebony on a white background. Next time, I definitely will.
Funkychicken, I'd love to get my hands on some Emperor kits. I'm still just starting out so I've had a lot of expenses recently and can't justify the cost of Emperors. Perhaps in the new year I'll order some.
Thanks for the comments.
