My first pens since Christmas
I got sick of doing University work after I put great amounts of effort into a cracker, ubeaut well present essay, so I though anyway. When I got my mark back, I got 50%! I was guttered and it made me a bit sad (apparently I missed the issues altogether).
So I drowned my sorrows in work shop and pulled out the lathe.
Here are the results of yesterday's work.
Attachment 73994
Attachment 73995
From left to right
2 x Curly Red Cedar
Myrtle
Bee's Wing PNG Rosewood
2 x Birds eye Huon Pine
Fiddle-back blackwood
Fiddle-back blackwood (sapwood)
Now I got to make some boxes to put them in. Then its back to studying for the exams which is in a week or two. Pens were from GPW.

Been there, done that. As long as everything is going well the lathe can be a good balm for the soul during such times of duress and distress. However, a word of warning, when skews are grabbing and blanks exploding and glue not setting and... it's enough to drive a fellow right on over the edge.
Anyhow, that's quite the slew of pen's you've made and nice looking ones at that. What kind of finish did you use?
Looks good, you should get out to the shed more often, things get slow around here sometimes. (:Wood. Such a wonderful substance.

It was CA finish that I used. 3 thick coates and sanded down to a final cut of automotive paste.
Each pen takes me approx half an hour to 45mins not including drilling and glueing which was done the night before.

Great looking pens . Normally I'm not a fan of HP for pens, but that birds eye looks really good.
