Pens from "Starting another batch" thread
Hey all, here are some of the pens from the latest batch. Not all of them survived but should be able to salvage most of what didn't. All pens are finished with Rustins and sanded to 12000 with acrylic finishing pads. Have posted the slimlines here and will post the others in a couple of other replies to this thread.

Sedona's
Last lot... I have included the one where I stuffed the finish just to show what happened. Hopefully I will be able to salvage it. The ebony band on it is to cover up a spot where I had a huge blowout and couldn't find the bit that came off. I think it would have looked better with a small band of the ebony and then continuing with the Cedar but I wasn't in a position to do it at the time.

Nice bunch of pens there. Hard to pick a winner. Maybe it's because it's the last one, but that Texas wild cherry looks nice.

Damn good, er great effort
pity about the blowout - I gather it was too large to fill
I can't pick a favourite so send me any two and I'll look after them for you
or even tell people they are my work and try and sell them

Thanks team. Sawdust, the blowout was the size of the replacement piece but it shattered and I couldn't find all the bits. Filling it the way it was wouldn't have worked I don't think. If the finish on it hadn't stuffed up and I could have retained the whole pen in its original form it would have been the standout. They way that stuff reflects light is mesmerising.
Now... if only I had some chickens, but then if I had a pen I could get some chickensIt's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

All very well done Corbs, great photography as well. Tis a pity about the blowout but we all have them, part of pen turning I am afraid..
