    Default Pens for troops

Have been "gunna do" for a while now but got caught up, seduced, making band saw boxes but dusted off the lathe and whipped up a few pens for the boys and girls out keeping the peace.

Thought it only fitting that Aussie troops get Aussie kits so used Timberbits Aussie ones made in good old Aussie timbers.
L to R beefwood, woody pear, rosewood, sheoak vic redgum, Tas blackwood, silky oak x2 black wattle and sheoak.

These will be on their way to Amos shortly.

Yes, I know the feeling. I bribed myself - I wasn't allowed to unpack my new sliding table saw until I had done the pens (and rearranged the shed to fit it in)!! So set to and did it, only to find when I unpacked the saw yesterday (after putting the stand together for it to go onto) it seems to have been thrown off the ship onto the wharf and is all bent and buckled So now it has to go back to the big smoke and get replaced. Not the end of the world but disheartening.

Thanks Jenny, when I get them I will put a post in "Pens for the Troops" did you know that "Pens for the Troops" is found in the special section of the pen forum where it says "SWAP, BARTER, SUPPORT A WORTHY CAUSE & GROUP BUY" just click on that and it opens up all the threads in that category, at the moment the "FP group buy" is the latest thread in that section, BUT there are a few other threads there, one of them is "Pens for the Troops" you will note in that thread/post a large lot was sent recently. Amos
WHY do I mention it here(sorry Jenny hijacking your thread for a worthy cause!!
I think since being put under that banner not many tend to view it. Amos

Amos, great minds think alike - the reason I posted it here was to raise the awareness for the Pens for Troops, as there seem to be a lot of new names in the pen forum who might not know what this is all about and may like to contribute!!

I do look at the posts under the other section, but don't tend to go to that area as much as the standard front page.

Pens went in the mail yesterday, pigeons well fed and rested.

Yes Sam, they were very easy to get along with - lucky really as I might only be small is stature but should have been a red head - if you get my drift!!

I do now have enough room in the shed for the combo planner thicknesser too!! All is not lost
