They are probably making a thousand a day using CNC equipment and an assembly line. Something few of us have the luxury of. But I must agree with Timberbits regarding the skills Amos possesses. Once he turns his attention to box making, we will really start to see a show. The laser engraver is just icing on the cake.

They are probably making thousands a day, but I doubt they are using CNC equipment.

Its probably quicker and more productive using 100's of people rather than a few expensive CNC machines. Its also cheaper because labor is cheaper than the machines.

Plus people power don't need electricity to run. Thats why my kids are on the exercise bike providing power to the lights in exchange for dinner on the table and a place to rest their head for the night.

I also purchased two of the Addictive plastic see-through cases, one square end, and one round, but I'm a bit worried about those plastic clips inside, which seem like they might scratch the pen finish.

I've also used one of those large black & red velvet cases for a Sedona, which seems nice, but it at the expensive end in the available case range from what I can see. I have tried the maple/rosewood wooden cases that are available yet, or any of the "bag" type ones.

What would people recommend customers like, and which ones should I steer clear of?

    Thanks. Russell.

    David,
I've been thinking of doing something very similar to what you've done there. The way I figure it, a jig made out of MDF would hold the box and MDF guides would guide a plunge router outfitted with a core box bit. The best part is there are no fancy glueups since it is just two pieces of slab timber. Great way to use offcuts. A quick trip down the router table would round all the outside edges and a quick finish of WOP to wrap it up. One jig for single pens and another for two pen sets. Need a box for a larger pen? Use a larger core box bit. Nice.
