Maroon or Brown?
I realise this is a rhetorical question, as the camera doesn;t reflect the true colour, and everyone's monitor varies, but do you reckon this looks Maroon or Brown? I'm supposed to be doing Brisbane bronco's colours, but can't quite get the pigment mix right.
It's a GPW Executive fountain pen btw. Wish they had these in a better coating.

Looks brown to me from here but like you said, conversion from real life to monitor can be a problem. I bought an acrylic a while ago (pretty sure it was from Carroll's?) that was white, yellow and burgandy. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was the Bronco's. I have looked at a few suppliers sites but can't find any pics of the blank. If I still have it and can find it in the shed then I will post a pic. Not the same as making the blank but might be one possible solution.
CorbsIt's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

yep, brown for mine.
i've always said that the maroon that the bronco's and qld origin team wear is a dark shade of purple, so maybe that is something to aim for.
nice pen all the same.

*sigh*
That's what I was afraid of. It's only red & blue mixed together as it is. More blue would make it blue-purple, not red-purple.
The picture in the casting thread about separating colours is my 2nd attempt, which is a lot redder, but I'm yet to turn it to see what the finished result is. May have to end up looking for a properly mixed pigment to match. Why doe sit always seem every time someone wants a custom pen, I end up spending about 3x on material etc than what I actually get paid by them....

Brown from here too. Though everything on the easters seaboard has a brown look to it these last few days
It is a deep, maroonish brown though, if that helps
Cheers,
