    Default Pin Chucks

    G'Day Folks,

I've wanted to try making closed end style pens for a while, I eventually got around to making Pin Chucks to suit the sedona size pen/tube. This is my first attempt and am quite pleased with it.
A big thanks to SDB777 for the timber as part of the recent pen swap, its Pignut Hickory with a bit of spalting.

    Looks good

Biggest problem with pin chucks is ensuring they fit perfectly in the tube, any slop with result in an out of round blank, don't ask me how I know this

    Neil,

Yes it's a problem especially getting them to sit exactly centred in the chuck, also I don't have a metal lathe and these where turned with a spindle gouge ! I noticed a tiny amount of runout but not enough to be noticeable on a finished pen, thankfully !
